Mildred McMahanMay 25, 1912 ~ April 2, 2008 Mildred McMahan, 95, of Waco, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 2, 2008 at a local nursing home. Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 4, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, Texas. No formal visitation is scheduled. Mildred Ella Bailey was born on May 25, 1912 in Greenville to Mary Ella Burke and O'Conner Bailey. She remained in Greenville until her marriage to John R. McMahan, November 1, 1936. Throughout her 95+ years, her entire life centered around her family and her family of faith. For the last 70 years she was a member of either Highland Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana or Columbus Avenue Baptist Church of Waco, Texas. She was steadfast in her faith and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her ability to befriend so many and for her very giving heart. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John R. McMahan; brothers, Rex Bailey and O.C. Bailey; and sister, Velma Latham. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom & Ruth Ann McMahan of Salado, Texas, her granddaughter, Kelli McMahan of Waco, Texas and her two brothers, Burke Bailey of Greenville, Texas and Doc Bailey of Calera, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco.
