Maurine WhiteSept. 24, 1927 ~ July 22, 2007 Maurine White, 79, of Hewitt, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 22, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Ron Hill officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens, TX. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 24, at the funeral home. Maurine was born the daughter of Jasper and Alice Cox Kelley on Sept. 24, 1927 in Athens, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hewitt. She retired from J.C. Penney's in Athens in 1980. She was devoted to her husband and a wonderful mother and a fantastic grandmother. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joe B. White Jr., brother, Harold Kelley; and sisters, Lela Shelton and Jude Smith. Those left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, June Leitner of Hewitt; and son, Joe B. White II and wife Sherree of Channelview, Texas; grandchildren, Greg Hawkins of Hewitt, Kelli Norvell and husband Jerry of Murchison, Alayna Lowrie and husband Mark of Crosby, Virginia White of Colorado Springs, Co, Taylor and Derek Teague of Channelview and Joe B. White III of Channelview; great-grandchildren, Kolton and Kaitlyn Hawkins of Murchison, Caleb Hawkins of Abbott, Isabel Leech of Colorado Springs, Co, and Evelyn and Everett Lowrie of Crosby. We wish to thank Dr. Natalie Lippe and all her nurses. We would love to thank Bluebonnet Hospice, all the wonderful nurses and aids for all their loving care in our time of need. Pallbearers will be Randy Byers, Greg Hawkins, Jimmy Smith, Derek Teague, Joe B. White, II and Joe B. White, III.
