Maudine Carmack Watkins, of Waco, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Major Harwell officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, on Friday, November 15th at the funeral home. Mrs. Watkins was born on April 15, 1928 in Mangum, Texas to Robert J. and Cora Ellen (Byrd) Carmack. She married Jim Albert Watkins on July 19, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas and they celebrated over 56 wonderful years together until his death on February 14, 2004. Mrs. Watkins was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Hewitt and the Salvation Army Church. She loved crafts, sewing, bingo and talking to her family and friends. Her parents, husband and 5 brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Gerrie Turk and Connie Boddy, sons, Jimmie Watkins and his wife, Barbara and Norman Watkins, brother, Norman Carmack, 13 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren and a special friend, Vickie Dossey. She is also survived by a dear friend, Billie who survived the explosion in West with her.
