Mary Ione Kolinek LewallenApril 7, 1922 ~ July 23, 2009 Our Momma and best friend, Mary Lewallen, 87, of Waco, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at a local nursing home with us three girls by her side. Her services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Greg Brumit and Chaplain Suzanne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 24, at the funeral home. Mary Ione Kolinek was born to Anna Pauline Bayer and John Carl Kolinek on April 7, 1922 in Elgin, Texas. On February 11, 1943 she married the love of her life, Virgil Grant Lewallen. Mary was her husband's fishing, hunting and "bird dog" buddy. She had more children than the three she gave birth to as she was always "adopting" our friends. An extremely good cook and extraordinarily talented seamstress who could "copy" clothing without even using a pattern was our Mother who was always there with a HUG for all who would receive. If anyone ever left her house hungry it was their own fault. Known by Maw Maw, Grandma, Grandmother, Momma Lew, Onie and Mom, she could really be summed up into just one word ~ LOVE. Preceding her in death were her husband, V. G. "Bubby" Lewallen; three brothers; seven sisters; and two grandsons, James Michael Norris and Duane Keith McCain. Left behind to carry on the legacy she left are daughters, Jeanne Norris of Waco, JoAnn and husband, Ed Peeler of Buckholts and Jan Bartee of Waco; grandchildren, Lisa Marshall and husband, Henry, Joey McCain, Larry Peeler and wife, Sharlayne, Linda Peeler, J.R. Norris and wife, Amanda, Grant Bartee and wife, Fabiola, Suzanne McCain; great-grandchildren, Sara, Grace and John Marshall, Sara Gilam, Jacob Norris, and Myles Peeler; sister, Ella Chiles of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Grant Bartee, David Kolinek, John Carl Kolinek, Joey McCain, J. R. Norris, Johnny Pearson, Richard Seawright and Lou Watkins. Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Ray Kolinek.
