Mary Ella Dodd of Waco, 91, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2003 at Southeast Memorial Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at Harvest House of Prayer located at 5201 Steinbeck Bend Road, with Pastor John Carroll officiating, burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wed. 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Mary was born on October 21, 1911 to James and Minnie Lansford in Chilton, Texas. She spent most of her life growing up in Marlin, Texas.Ms. Dodd was a member of the Harvest House of Prayer and an avid bingo player.She was preceded in death by her husband Johnie Dodd; son Louis Alton Dodd; parents, James and Minnie Lansford; 2 sisters, Carrie and Ruth; 1 granddaughter, Lisa Dawn Holland; 1 great grandson, Jan Cody Dodd and son-in-law Dan Holland.Mary Ella Dodd is survived by her son Johnie Dodd and his wife Velma of Waco; daughter Barbara Holland of Pearland; sister Minnie Lee Abel of Waco; grandchildren Johnie G. Dodd and his wife Jill of Valley Mills, Charlotte Wallace and her husband Glynn of Waco, Velvett Dollins and her husband Craig of Waco, Danny Kent Holland and his wife Patricia of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott Holland and his wife Mei' Ling of Conroe, Johnie Holland and his wife Kristine of Pearland, Louis A. Dodd of Riesel, Genia Horn and her husband Travis of Waco and Sharon Kroll and her husband Gary; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; special friend Cecil Howard and numorous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be her 5 grandsons and nephew James Killough.Arrangements are under the direction of Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
