Marvin Gather Drake, 89, of Waco, passed away Friday, March 11, 2005 at Providence Park Nursing Center. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Drake grew up around Marlin and went to school at Travis and McCalahan, Texas. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church. His family moved from Waco to Ft. Worth where he worked at General Dynamics then moved back to Waco. He retired as a bus driver for Waco. He also played the fiddle and guitar and had engagements with area bands. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Elizabeth Drake; daughter Elizabeth Ann Harrison and other brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son Ronald G. Drake and his wife Carolyn of Riesel; daughter Beverley Jo Drake of Waco; grandchildren Kathy Ann Gorgas of Riesel, Ronald G. Drake, Jr. of Houston, Joseph V. Drake of Greensboro, Louisiana, Terry Lynn Drake of Riesel, Donald Harrison of Tyler and Johnny Lee Harrison of California; step daughter Barbara Sauls and numerous other family members. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hillcrest Hospital, Providence Hospital and St. Catherine staff who lovingly shared their kindness and compassion.
