Martha Lou Snider Griffith passed away June 15, 2015 in Houston, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, June 19, at Lakewood Christian Church, the family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00p.m., Thursday, June 18, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.Martha was born in Waco, Texas February 25, 1929 to R. Doyl and Reba (Thurston) Snider. She attended Waco schools, Brook Ave. Elementary, West Junior High and graduated from Waco High School in 1947.Martha worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone CO. in Waco and Ft. Worth until her marriage to Lonnie Griffith in 1951.They had two children, son Richard "Rick" Griffith and daughter Marcia Griffith Morris.She worked for 12th Air Force and Dumas & Goble Insurance Agency. After retiring Martha worked at her church as financial secretary.Martha was a faithful charter member of Lakewood Christian Church, serving in the Christian Women's Fellowship and as a Deacon, Treasurer, Budget Chairperson, Property Dept. Chairperson and the Building Committee.Survivors include her son, Richard Griffith and wife Debbie, of San Antonio, daughter, Marcia Morris and husband Danny, of Tomball, TX; grandchildren Christi Griffith Grimes, of San Antonio, John Morris, of Houston, Marcus "Andy" Morris and wife Barbara, of EL Paso; great granddaughter, Evelynn Morris, New Waverly, TX. She is also survived by her brother, James "Buddy" Snider of Robinson and numerous cousins who were always loved and were very dear to her. Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Griffith, and grandson, Stephen Griffith.Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
