Malvina E. Anspach1915 ~ April 5, 2008 Malvina E. Anspach, 92, of Waco, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008 at her home. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Art Torpy officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, at the funeral home. Malvina Elsie was born in 1915, on the Steinbach Ranch at Wolfe Butte, North Dakota to Elsie and Charles Steinbach. After her mother died she was adopted by an aunt, Cora Steinbach Wenig and her husband, Dr. Benjamin Wenig. Her father later remarried and had a daughter by his second wife. Malvina grew up in New Hampton, Iowa, graduated from New Hampton High School and went to the University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa, where she acquired a Degree in Nursing. While attending the University she met her future husband, Dr. Harold M. Anspach. They were married in New Hampton, Iowa in 1938. She was the first X-ray Technician in Waco, and later became the Assistant Director of Nursing at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. She also taught Nursing at the Goodall-Witcher Clinic Nursing School in Clifton, Texas, and at HBMC School of Nursing in Waco. Malvina was a member of the Mary Milam Garden Club and the Belle Flur Garden Club. She was a Camellia Judge and was a member of a Camellia Society. She was also a Flower Show Judge and the first President of the Texas Landscape Judges Council, and occasionally presided over a TV program on Channel 13, Public Broadcasting System, on Flower Arranging. She was a member of the PEO's, Buckleberry Club, and the Doctor's Wives Club. She was also a Dame of The Magna Charta and a member of the Mayflower Society. Malvina was a member of Austin Avenue Methodist Church and the Hartsfield Bible Class. She was also in Business in Waco as a co-owner of "Gail's Casuals." Preceding Malvina in death were her parents; husband, Dr. Harold Anspach; brothers, Harley and Chester Steinbach, adoptive parents, Ben and Cora Wenig; and step-mother, Cloe Steinbach. Those left being to cherish her memory are sons, David Anspach and wife, Nancy of Houston and Royal Anspach and wife, Carol of Cave Creek, AZ; sister, Patty Steinbach; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
