Louise C. Stone, 85, of Waco, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at a local nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2007 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Larry Shotwell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Louise was born on Dec. 14, 1921 to Robert A. and Patty Laura Crook Cleveland in Breckenridge, Texas. She attended high school in San Angelo and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she met the love of her life, Robert Stone. They were married on June 1, 1941. Their marriage was a love affair lasting more than 66 years. Louise was a devoted wife, proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved music and was a choir member for many years at 1st Baptist church of San Angelo. She loved to sing and loved to listen to her amazing collection of CDs. Louise was a courageous and fiercely proud Air Force wife. She made every move and suffered no obstacles in the way of being wherever Robert's assignments led them through WWII and until Robert retired in 1973. She imparted her determination and "never give up" spirit to her children. Louise loved to laugh. Her family will always cherish her joyous spirit and sense of fun. Louise loved animals, especially her beloved long gone Collie, Jeb, and her cats, SuSu and Gypsy. She loved animal antics and felt people who did not like animals were missing out on one of God's blessings. Some favorite memories include her expertly piloting their boat during fishing expeditions. She and Robert would spend hours fishing. It was a treat family members enjoyed, boating, fishing and snacking. Louise was a fabulous cook. Coming to her table was always a treat. Louise's favorite Bible passages were the 23rd Psalm and especially John 3:16 and 17. She felt it was important to remember the 17th verse. Her parents and her sister, Merlene Smith, preceded Louise in death. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Stone of Waco; daughter, Donna Sammon and husband, Bobby of Waco; son, Michael Stone and wife, Brenda of Austin; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Wes Whitman of Brenham; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Robert Sammon, Eric Sammon, Jeff Sammon, Keith Stone, Wes Whitman and Mark Penney. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ross Shipp for his years of care and more recently Dr's. Copeland and Barbin. Thanks also to the entire staff at Hillcrest Hospital 4A for their help during her recent hospital stay. Much gratitude is extended to Providence Hospice and St. Catherine's for their tender care for Louise and her family.
