Louis Ellison Murff, Jr.Louis Ellison Murff, Jr., 87, of Waco, died Wed., Nov. 24, 2004 at a local nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m., Sat. Nov. 27, 2004 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Michael O. Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Fri., Nov. 26, 2004 at the funeral home.Louis was born in Burlington to Louis and Ollie Murff on Jam. 4, 1917. He was third of nine children, graduated from Rosebud High School and attended Baylor Univ. for one yr. He worked at Carbide Chemical Corp. until he joined the U.S. Army in 1943. He served in both France and Germany, receiving numerous medals including 2 Purple Hearts for being wounded in action. After the war Louis returned to Carbide and worked there, retiring as Shift Superintendent in 1976. He moved to Pipe Creek, Bandera Co., Texas until he moved to Waco in 1998. Louis married Ann Hartley on July 22, 1941 in Texas City, and she died June 19, 1998 in Waco. He married Darlene Watts on August 5, 1999.Also preceding Louis in death were his parents; brother, Bill Murff; sisters, Ida Bell Hendrix and Lula Mae Bilbrey.Surviving him are his wife, Darlene Murff of Waco; brothers, John R. "Red" Murff of Tyler and Ed Murff of Waco; sisters, Salome Vickers of Bryan, Lee Johnson of Riverside, CA and Catherine Davis of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be John D. Bilbrey, Buddy, Charles and Jerry Murff, Ted Phillips and Robert Vickers.Special thanks to the kind staff of Royal Manor and Providence Hospice for the wonderful care they gave our Louis during his last days.
