Lillian Mae BarnesJuly 2, 1916 ~ September 28, 2009 Lillian Mae Barnes, 93, of West, went home into the arms of her beloved Lord and Savior on Monday, September 28, 2009. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev.'s Larry Wymore, John Collier and Ivan Ker officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, at the funeral home. Lillian Mae Bitner was born on July 2, 1916 in Waco, Texas to Ethel Bell Wood and Ludie Sylvester Bitner. She outlived three husbands and raised three children of her own. Her Christian walk was of great importance to her and everyone at her church, New Vision Family Fellowship, called her "Grandma". She faithfully attended unless health permitted. Lillian was a gifted artist who painted in oils and acrylics, known for her bluebonnet and pastoral scenes. Her family will treasure not only her works, but her memory and the heritage she leaves behind. Five generations were impacted by her life. Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Bill, Jamie and Ludie Bitner; sister, Bessie Springer; and husbands, Bert F. Pace Sr., Henry A. Hughes and James F. Barnes. Left behind to cherish her memory are son, Bert F. Pace of Plano; daughters, Linda Hodges of Waco and Nora Whitted of West; step-sons, Billy Barnes of Grand Prairie, Jimmy Barnes of Waco, and Charles Hughes of Farmersville; step-daughters, Joy Holt of The Colony, Linda Worley of Waco, Carolyn Conaway of Grand Prairie, and Rosalyn Saffell of Waco; brother, Lynn S. Bitner of Maumelle, Ark.; sisters, Elizabeth Pate of Waco and Dorothy Gardner of Grand Prairie; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
