Lenora Carpenter Padgett, 92, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Reverend Steve Oats officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.Mrs. Padgett was born January 9, 1912 in Lorena, Texas to Charlie Wesley and Eula Viola Lawless Carpenter. She married J.J. Padgett on June 16, 1932 in Waco. Mrs. Padgett worked for Owens Illinois for 14 years. Mr. and Mrs. Padgett owned a service station and they also owned and operated the Panther Den Drive Inn. She was a member of the Church of the Open Door. Mrs. Padgett had a heart of unconditional love and imparted the gift of love to her children and great grandchildren, giving them a rich family heritage. She loved the Lord with all her heart and her greatest desire was for her family to serve the lord and to see them again in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 13, 1979, her parents, 5 brothers and sisters and two great granddaughters.Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Parker of Waco, sons, James Padgett and his wife, Jackie of Waco and Denny Padgett, Sr. and his wife, Rita of Moody, Grandchildren, Tony, Cynthia, Denny Jr., Denise, John, Deanna, Breanna, Gina and Kam, 21 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, sister, Irene Hawkins of Waco, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend Sherri Hamm.Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. The family would like to thank the staff of Royal Manor and to Vista Care Hospice for their love to their mother.
