Lee Murphree AbelSept. 2, 1920 ~ Nov. 28, 2007 Lee Murphree Abel, 87, of Robinson passed away at a local nursing home on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Tom Beers officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Minnie Lee was born the daughter of Minnie Jane Wortham and James Jefferson Lansford on Sept. 2, 1920 in Marlin, Texas. She married Raymond Abel on June 18, 1994. Lee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor. She was very active in stock car racing and was associated very early on with the Heart of Texas Speedway and Waco Speedway. On May 11, 1953 Lee was working in a Five and Dime downtown Waco on the square when the tornado came through. She helped bandage several of the survivors with dry goods where she worked. What a love Lee had for people, and because of that will be missed by many who, in turn, loved her. Preceding Lee in death were her first husband, William (Buster) Murphree; daughter, Shirley Van Deilen; sisters, Ruth Blann, Carrie Holman, and Ella Dodd. Those left behind to cherish her memory are husband, Raymond Abel of Robinson; son, Jim Murphree of Robinson; daughter, Delores Rowe and husband Donnie of Troy; Grandchildren, Kenneth Wienass, Ronnie Wienass, Pamela Caulter, Billy Wayne Wooley, Donald Ray Wooley, Brenda Ary and Stephen Murphree; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to Providence Hospice for the special care they gave our precious Lee.
