Lawrence SnyderJanuary 6, 1948 ~ September 15, 2008 Lawrence Snyder, 60, of Waco, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 15, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2008 at St. Jerome Catholic Church with the Rev. Rakshaganathan Selvaraj officiating and burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 18 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Lawrence Edward Snyder was born on Jan. 6, 1948 to Evelyn Frances Sanders and Bradley Johnson Snyder in Baltimore, Maryland. Lawrence served honorably two tours in Vietnam as a door gunner and was a physician's assistant during Desert Storm. He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Exercise and Sport Science. After teaching and coaching football for a few years he reentered the Army in 1976 as a PFC and retired in 1994 as a Chief Warrant Officer. On Dec. 17, 1977 he married Zoila Contreras. Lawrence was a 'Mr. Fix-It', a lover of animals, quick witted, humorous, a big fan of the Florida Gators, and a fisherman. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; and newborn sister, Mary Frances. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Zoila Snyder of Waco; daughter, Laura Snyder of Lewisville; son, Shawn Snyder and wife, Krislyn of Waco; brother, Brad Snyder and wife, Lorene of Falls Church, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be David Contreras, Dan Hermansen, Brad, Daniel, Scott and Shawn Snyder.
