Joseph "Joey" Shawn Sweeney, 59, was called to heaven Tuesday, September 30th, 2014. A "celebration of life" reception will be held on Saturday, November 1st, from 2-4pm.Joey was born on May 2nd, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph Michael and Helen Margaret (Dougherty) Sweeney. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1973. Joey worked in the spirits industry for many years; working for Coors Brewing, Glazer's Wines and Dicorte's (Specs). Through his work he became well known and gained many friends.In his private life, Joey was known for his love of music and played the drums. He also loved cars and was known for his unique and creative vehicles over the years. Joey enjoyed hunting with his friends and taking trips out to the coast. He loved turtles. Joey was also a tremendous cook. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Michael Sweeney and his sister Patti Anderson.Survivors include his daughter, Kellie Idzikowski, her husband Michael and their son Isaac; daughter, Kristen Sweeney; mother, Helen M. Sweeney; sisters, Linda McKinney and husband John, Cindi Mennenga and husband Mike; brother, Michael Sweeney and wife Mary; aunts, Mildred Ruffino and Mary Talucci; several nieces, nephews and friends.Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
