Obituary

Johnnie Britton Scroggs, 74, of Gholson, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Robinson First Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Moore officiating. Interment will follow in White Rock Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Mr. Scroggs was born on December 29, 1938 in Asheville, North Carolina to Fred and Anne Metler Scroggs. He served his country in the United States Air Force serving two tours in VietNam. Mr. Scroggs married Elizabeth Everett on June 6, 1964 in Elm Mott and they celebrated over 48 wonderful years together. He loved to fish, deer hunt and work with his flowers, but his true love was his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retiring from the Air Force he worked at Austin Community College and retired from there in 1995. Mr. Scroggs was a member of the First Baptist Church in Robinson; he loved his savior, Jesus Christ and to talk to people. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Scroggs of Gholson, daughters, Brenda Skiff and her husband, Joe of Austin, Texas and Nelda Kirk and her husband, Ricky of Waco, son, David Scroggs and his wife, Buffie of Bullard, Texas, brother, Jack Scroggs of Leicester, North Carolina, sister, Bertha Burnett also of Leicester, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
