John Wood LakeFebruary 14, 1920 ~ April 27, 2010 John Wood Lake, 90, of Waco, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in a local nursing home. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Connally\Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Chaplain Kevin Avery officiating. John was born February 14, 1920 to William Wood and Ludenia Neal George Lake in Houston, Texas. He was a US Navy veteran. He graduated from Texas A&M and received his Master's Degree from Baylor University. He was a longtime teacher at University High School and the WISD, retiring in 1981. John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his longtime friend and neighbor, Manuel Caro and a host of friends.
