"Papa" Joe CastilloJoe M. Castillo, loving husband, our daddy, and Papaw, 83, of Bosqueville, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 at his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Keith Schroeder, minister, officiating. Burial to follow at Bosqueville Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tues. at the funeral home. A memorial video of his life will be shown continuously during the visitation.Mr. Castillo was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Three Rivers to Pedro and Petra Morales Castillo. He married Pilar Rangel on Jan. 17, 1942 and lived in Mt. Calm. Later he moved his family to Corpus Christi where he began his plumbing career in 1947. He successfully became a master plumber in 1952. Later he moved to Waco in 1961 and founded Castillo's Plumbing. Joe's joy in life was serving our Heavenly Father, Jehovah God. He was a longtime member of the Lake Air Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he served faithfully for many years, including as a past elder of the congregation. He had many other joys, including lovingly helping family and friends. He unselfishly loved everyone and always gave generously of himself. He always said, "First I'm a Minister, then a plumber by trade." Joe was also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Teresa Ann Whited; and a great grandson, Raven Lee Rage Whited. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pilar Castillo; son, Little Joe Castillo and his wife, Sinda Sue and their 3 daughters; Mrs. Joel (Hope) Cuellar, Mrs. Kenneth (Connie) Whited, and Mrs. Ronny Joe (Norma Jo) McCoy; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 step great-grandchildren; all of Waco; and many other loving family members and friends.Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Robby Lee Whited, L.J. Shawn Castillo, L.J. Shane Castillo, L.J. Sheridan Castillo, L.J. Shaylon Castillo, and Ronny Joe McCoy.The family would like to express their thanks to the physicians and nurses at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for their care, and also to the Hospice there. He was loved very much and we will miss him greatly.
