Jimmie Dodd "J.D." Brooks, 84, left this Earth to be with the Lord on April 25, 2014.Funeral Services will 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Dave Pafford Officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park with Military Honors.Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.J.D. was born March 28, 1930 to Dodd and Emma (Matthews) Brooks in Cardy, Missouri. He entered the United States Air Force in July of 1947 and served in the Korean War and Vietnam War retiring in 1968. J.D. was a great man who was devoted to his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and family cookouts. J.D.'s favorite activities were bowling, camping, fishing, gardening and hunting.He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie and wife of 61 years, Dorothy Mae "Dottie" Brooks.Those left behind to cherish J.D.'s memory are his daughter, Cheryl and husband Brian; granddaughters, Krystin Marshall, Kayla Riedel and husband Robert ; great grandchildren, Elysah and Justin Wayne II; all of Waco, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scott and White Hospice, 300 Herring Ave, Waco, Texas 76708.Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
