Jesusa "Susie" M. DeLeon died Saturday morning, October 27, 2012, at the age of 87. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, 4400 West Waco Drive. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 1, 2012, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Roman Burgos officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. DeLeon was born March 26, 1925, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of the late Alex Barron and Mary (Rivas) Martinez where she attended school. In 1947 she married Secundino (Sam) DeLeon in Waco. After 22 years of marriage, he preceded her in death, June 26, 1969. For a brief period of time, she was employed by Texas Family Health Care. It has been said she was an avid reader and because of her love for her family, she was the family photographer and historian. She was also a good cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.Also preceding her in death was two brothers, Alex Martinez and John Martinez. Survivors include two sons, Arthur T. Martinez and wife Pat, and Michael DeLeon both of Waco; three daughters, Gloria Cantwell and husband Larry of China Spring, Elizabeth Gomez and husband Robert of Waco, Dolores Mendoza and husband Ricky of Fort Worth; three brothers, George Martinez, Robert Martinez, Ralph Martinez and wife Marge all of Arizona; three sisters, Sarah Norman and husband Bill, Kathy Ruiz both of Arizona and Rita Flores and Emmitt of Waco; Bridget Heins and husband Michael of Waco, Cliff Lewis and wife Meagan of Fort Worth, Jennifer Baxton and husband Jeff of Dallas, Patricia Gomez of Waco, Jessica Lefevre and husband Alex of Key West, Florida; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren,For those desiring, the family has suggested the charity of the donor's own choosing for memorial contributions. Pallbearers will be Mike Heins, Vince Foster Sr., Steve Flores, Emmitt Flores Jr., Ricky Mendoza, and Robert Martinez.
