Janice Alvern Grimmett Lankford, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday Nov. 7, 2014 in Waco. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00p.m., on Friday, Nov. 14 in at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel, with Chase Caldwell, minister of Lacy Lakeview Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 in Connally Compton Funeral Directors.Janice was born in Bauxite, Arkansas on Jan 7, 1918, the daughter if Jewel Grimmett and Esther Hogue Grimmett. She graduated from Bauxite Hogh School and moved to Little Rock where she met and was united in marriage to Raymond J. Lankford in 1941. She moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1948 and later moved to Lacy Lakeview in 1968 where she owned a beauty salon and worked as a beautician. The last 5 years of her life she was a resident at Regent Care of Woodway. Janice was a loving and gracious. Everyone who knew her loved her and she loved them in return. She will be missed by many relatives and lots of friends.We are thankful God gave us time to share with this special lady.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond J. Lankford; son, Wayne S. Lankford; sisters, Polly Sutton and Lois Grimmett; brothers, John D. Grimmett, Nob Grimmett, and Harold Grimmett; 2 nephews, Larry Grimmett and Glen Sutton; 1 great-nephew, Matt Grimmett.Survivors are her son, Ray Lankford and wife Mary of Victoria; grandson, Ray John Lankford; great granddaughter, Ivyanne Leaquita Lankford and great grandson, R.J. Lankford of Waco, TX; 2 nieces, Loretta Galloway and Debbie Lentine; 4 nephews, Ronnie Sutton, Mike Grimmett; Laney Grimmett and John "Scooter" Grimmett; 14 great nieces and great nephews; 23 great-great nieces and great-great nephews.The family would like to give special thanks to Blue Bonnet Hospice for all of their compassion and care they provided. The family would also like to thank Regent Care of Woodway for their long time care of Janice and a very special thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers and support during this time. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
