Hilma Carelee BekkelundOctober 31, 1918 ~ April 16, 2010 Hilma Carelee Bekkelund, 91, of Waco, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 800 North New Road with Pastor Paul Krupicka officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Clifton Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Hilma was born October 31, 1918 in Norse, Texas to Simon and Gina (Smith) Bekkelund. Hilma loved to volunteer her time and talents to nursing homes and to Caritas. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Lillie Mae Bekkelund; brothers, Helmer Bekkelund, Gordon Bekkelund, Ervin Bekkelund; niece, Brenda Keck; and nephew, Bruce Waldrep. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sister, Vernice B. Baker; brother, Cecil R. Bekkelund and wife, Bobbye; sister, Louise Lane; sisters-in-law, Edna Bekkelund, Ima Bekkelund; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
