Harlan Wharton, 89, of Austin, formerly of Waco, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 14, 2015 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Reverend Gene Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.Mr. Wharton was born on August 6, 1926 in Oglesby, Texas to Robert Miller and Abbie Pearl Meeks Wharton. He married Margie Ruth Warren on September 11, 1943 in Waco and they celebrated over 71 wonderful years together. Mr. Wharton served his country in the United States Navy during WW II. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.Survivors include his wife, Margie Ruth Wharton of Austin; sons, Gerald Wharton of Grapevine, Texas and Mark Wharton and his wife, Edie of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter, Vickie Olewin and her husband, George of Austin; grandchildren, Stanley Olewin and his wife, Amye and Jessica Adams and her husband, John; great grandchildren, Isaac Olewin, Levi Olewin and Juliette Adams and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
