Gwendolyn Martin, 81, of Gholson, passed away Monday, October 22, 2007 at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Rev. Marvin Donnell and Rev. Gary Kreder officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Martin was born October 18, 1926 in Crawford to parents, William Thomas and Pearl Duckett Hurst. She married Troy Martin on May 1, 1955 in Waco. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Gholson Baptist Church. Gwendolyn loved to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be Danny Goates, Allen Ballew, Steven Whited, Richard Caldera, Mitch Vaughn, Vern Schriner. Honorary bearers will be the Deacons of the Gholson Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Troy of Gholson; two sons, Jeffrey Alton Martin and wife Teresa of Merritt Island, Florida; Russell Thomas Martin and wife Teresa of Waco; a sister, Pauline Welch of Dallas; five grandchildren, Michael Martin of Pensacola, FL; Christopher Martin and Joseph Martin of Merritt Island, FL; Felisha Tunmire of Waco; Steven Whited of Elm Mott; three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Tunmire and Trevor Tunmire of Waco; Amelia Martin of Pensacola, FL.
