Gurtha MinnixOctober 7, 1915 ~ February 3, 2008 Gurtha Minnix, 92, of Waco passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Rosemound Cemetery with Pastor Paul Krupicka officiating. Visitation with family friends will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 5 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Gurtha Mae was born to Connie Delia Owen and Robert Whaley Ingram in Waco on Oct. 7, 1915. She married Fred Minnix March 30, 1937 and they co-owned Minnix and White Produce on Mary Street. Gurtha was not only a "babysitter extraordinaire" for her own grandchildren and great-granddaughters, but several Waco area children over the years. Preceding her in death were her husband, Fred Minnix in 1969; daughter, Connie Dryburgh in 2003; and step-son, J.D. Minnix in 2006. Those left behind to cherish her memory are step-daughter, Dorothy Campbell of Waco; son-in-law, John Dryburgh of Waco; daughter-in-law, Doris Minnix of Waco; grandchildren, Laurie Bowen and husband, Ralph of Georgetown, Marsha McConaughey and husband, Mark of Austin, Jackie Swieczkowski and husband, Alex of Georgetown, Debbie Venenga and husband, Doug of McGregor, and Bobby Campbell of Waco; great-granddaughters, Kaci and Kate Bowen of Georgetown and Kari Bowen of San Marcos.
