Guadalupe (Lupe) Tovar Sr., 83, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Providence Hospice Place in Waco, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Benjamin Magnaye officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.Lupe was born August 4, 1932 in Rosebud, Texas, to Refugio and Maria Grimaldo Tovar Sr. He attended Rosebud schools. On September 9, 1951, he married the love of his life Mary Ann Cervantez. Lupe was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.He worked for the Hargis Company for many years then left to join his wife as they owned and operated L&M Gifts and Flowers for over 35 years.Lupe loved the Outdoors and was a very avid fisherman. He held the record for the largest Black Bass caught at Lake Waco for a time. He also enjoyed his audio sound system always playing music at all the family gatherings. He also happily shared his PA equipment with the church whenever they needed it. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.He was preceded in death by his wife of over 63 years and his Grandparents who raised him.Survivors include sons, Guadalupe Tovar, Jr. and wife, Margaret, Phillip Andrew Tovar and wife, Anne, and Eric Tovar and wife, Nichole; daughters, Angelita Torres and husband, Rodolfo, and Maria Rosario Nemitz and husband, Scott; grandsons, Richard Dimas, Jr., Joseph Dimas, Sr. and wife, Laura, Jacob Torres, Grant Tovar and wife, Stefani, and Michael Tovar; granddaughters, Mary Ann Pedersen and husband, Soren, Lauren Tovar, Olivia Tovar, and Kristina Lee and husband, Justin. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, King Dimas, Joseph Dimas, Jr., Sebastiana Dimas, Maria Dimas, Adelina Dimas, Kali Rose Dimas, Kain Lee, Iben Pedersen, Hunter Tovar and Cora Tovar; siblings, Randy (Rufus) Tovar Jr., Maria Tovar, Andrea Tovar; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
