Obituary

The beautiful and faithful soul of Grace Arleen Stevener Segler entered into heaven to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 15, 2021, at the age of 95. To know her was to love her and appreciate her gentleness, kindness, and deep caring love of others. Her peaceful passing, as she slept, was a merciful gift.

The daughter of Ernst Michael (E.M.), Sr. & Ruby Marie Pauline Dittmar Stevener, Grace was born in Waco, TX and lived in Waco all of her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Waco, Texas. Grace was baptised on Feb. 21, 1926, confirmed April 2, 1939, and married to Henry Robert (H.R.) Segler, Sr. on Dec. 5, 1943. She and H.R. were the loving and devoted parents of two children, Sharon Elaine Segler White and Henry Robert (Bob) Segler, Jr.

Her confirmation verse is Psalms 26, vs.8: Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honor dwelleth.

She attended St. Mark Lutheran day school, South Junior High, graduated from Waco High School, and Central City Commercial College. A caregiver of family members, in so many ways, included caring for her son who contracted polio at the age of six. She was active in the March of Dimes whenever possible. She actively assisted her husband in their business with bookkeeping and office duties as owners of Segler's Exxon until his death in 1984.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Sharon of Waco. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Shirley Mae Stevener, and many nieces and nephews who could always count on Aunt Grace.

Mrs. Segler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; son-in-law, William Paul White; three sisters, Dorothy Ruby Stevener Nobles, Doris Marguerite Stevener Paar, and Alma Edelweiss Stevener Horan; two brothers, Ernest Michael Stevener, Jr. and Raymond Elwood Stevener.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2000 Clay Avenue, Waco, Tx. Burial follows at Rosemound Cemetery. Social distancing will be observed at the church and cemetery due to Covid-19.
