Glenda was born September 11, 1940 in Prairie Hill, Texas to Elzie and Juanita Black. She graduated from Prairie Hill High School in 1959 and went to work for Lone Star Gas, where she retired 38 years later as Customer Service Manager. She married A.J. Worthy, her high school sweetheart in 1961, and they were happily married until his untimely death in 1992. Their life together was enriched by their many rodeo friends as he calf roped actively until his death. After her retirement, she traveled extensively with friends and relatives up until a year or so before her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother E.J. Black. Glenda is survived by her brother, Ray J. Black and wife Cynthia; her nephews Ray Black Jr., Jay Black and Jason Black; Derek Haas, Clay Hass, and Austin Hass and niece, Haley Black. Glenda was devoted to her family and friends and was always available as mentor or sounding board when needed. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her family, especially her niece and nephews and was actively involved in seeing that they were well educated. All of our lives have been enriched by her and we will dearly miss her. A visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be Monday, Sept. 24, at Prairie Hill Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Brother Fred Sain officiating. Pallbearers will be Ray Black Jr., Jay Black, Jason Black, Ronnie Parks, Jim Gramms, and Mack Abernathy.
