Gladys E. Mims passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.The memorial service is to be conducted at 11:00a.m., Saturday, January 31, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Johnny Stephens of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ officiating.Visitation will be held Friday, from 5 to 7p.m., January 30, at the funeral home.Above all, Gladys was an outstanding model of a Christian wife, mother, and friend. She was a long-time member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. Her strong faith provided a foundation of values that were passed onto her son, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Nothing interfered with the attention she gave to her family. She will always be remembered for her strength, perseverance, and kindness.Born April 14, 1928 in Otto, Falls County, Texas, Gladys was proud to have spent her entire life in Central Texas. She graduated from Waco High School.She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Kuretsch; her husband of 55 years, John Mims; sisters, Helen Jones of Waco and Elizabeth Masters of Orange; and brothers, Arnold and Alvin Kuretsch of El Campo.She is survived by a sister, Ruth Dyess of Jackson, Wyoming; son, John Allen Mims and daughter-in-law, Deborah, of Kingwood; and grandchildren, Jack Mims of Humble and Holly Loff of Fort Worth.
