Gertrude "Trudy" Oliver SteenMarch 21, 1920 ~ December 22, 2009 Gertrude "Trudy" Oliver Steen, 89, formerly of Corpus Christi, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in Waco, Texas where she had lived the past five years. Trudy was born to Wiley Edmund Sr. and Mary Dru Hume Oliver on March 21, 1920 in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Steen; brother and sister-in-law, Wiley E. Oliver Jr. and wife, Loretta; step-daughter, Pat Steen Doar; and step-granddaughter, Debbie Doar Riddle. Left behind to cherish her memory are her step-daughters, Susan Steen Chamblee and Marsha Steen Jones and husband, Greg; step-grandchildren, Tracy Chamblee Burris and husband, John, and Jared Jones; step-great grandchildren, Annie Riddle Norman, Mandy Riddle, Christine Riddle, Elisabeth Burris and Alex Burris; nephews, Wiley E. Oliver III and wife, Melinda, and Jeff Oliver and wife, Mariena; niece, Donna Oliver Bromley and husband, Dave; great nephews, Wiley E. Oliver IV and wife, Charo and Michael Oliver; great niece, Katherine Oliver; and great-great nephew, Wiley E. "Q" Oliver V. Trudy loved and was loved. She was a wonderful example to friends and family of how to love your neighbor as yourself. She was always there to listen to your problems, give you good advice and to pray for you. Her encouraging words and giving heart will be sorely missed. Special thanks to Providence Hospice employees, Bobby, Elaine, Wilda and Becky. We also appreciate Anita, Patricia, Yolanda, Chris and Tina for their loving care these past years and days.
