Gertrude ConradApril 10, 1924 ~ May 28, 2010 Gertrude Conrad, 86, of Waco, Texas passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 in a local care center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1301 Hogan Lane (Behrens Circle & IH-35 in Bellmead) with Pastor Walter Albers officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Monday, May 31, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Gertrude was born April 10, 1924 to Adolph and Olga (Maass) Markwardt in Hill County, Texas. She married Hilbert Conrad on December 22, 1945 at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone, Texas. Gertrude was a loving, cheerful and humble Christian woman. She was a meticulous homemaker, an avid gardener, enjoyed arts and crafts, and being a grandmother. She enjoyed being involved in family, church, community and social activities. Gertrude was preceded in death in 2002 by her loving husband of 56 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elsie and Bertha, and brothers Erich, Otto, Victor, Ben and Jimmy. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Emma Jean Campbell and husband, Roger; sons, James Conrad and wife, Deborah, Dean Conrad and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Jonathan Conrad, Jeffrey Conrad and wife, Lauren, Kristie Killings and husband, Leandre, Joshua Duckett, Audrey Duckett; great grandchild, Jada Killings; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
