Mr. Gene Weldon McMaster, age 89, went to be with the Lord December 4, 2017. Funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors with Reverend Ken James officiating. Interment to follow in Robinson Cemetery.

Gene was born January 7, 1928 to Jessie Foy and Lona (O'Neal) Mc Master in Abernathy, Texas. He graduated from Abernathy High School. Gene served in the United States Navy from 1945-1948. He graduated from Texas A & M and received his master's degree in education. He married the love of his life, Martha Mae Wilson in 1950. Mr. McMaster was longtime resident of Waco. He worked at TSTC as vocational director. Gene was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. He served as a Gideon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha McMaster; his sons, Neal McMaster and Joe Luke McMaster; and sister, Rhetta Parham.

Survivors include his daughter, Pattie Simpson, brother, Foy McMaster; granddaughters, Christie Burleson, Ashley Knippers, and grandson, Matthew Simpson , and 7 great-grandchildren.
