Frederick Edwin Bowman, 88, of Runge, TX died Monday, July 10, 2006 in Dallas. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 13, at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Mr. Bowman was born September 6, 1917 in Devine, Texas the son of Fred and Myrtle (Langley) Bowman. He attended Baylor University, graduating with a BBA in 1941. He served in the Navy during WWII attaining the rank of Lt Commander. He married Jeanne Mallet on June 13, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Bowman was a resident of Corpus Christi, TX until 1972, when he retired to Kenedy, TX. He was an independent oil operator who built a successful family-owned oil and gas business. He enjoyed ranching in Runge, TX, fishing in Canada and everything to do with the oil and gas business. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, John D. Bowman. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Bowman of Kenedy, TX; five children, Bill Bowman and Mary Campbell of Dallas, TX, Nancy Upton and Robert Bowman of Kenedy, TX, and Richard Bowman of Houston, TX; his sister, Wanda Young of Victoria, TX; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a nephew, Douglas Speck of Victoria, TX.
