Felix Castro, Sr., of West, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at a local nursing home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Saturday, June 25, 2005, at St. Francis Catholic Church, the Reverend Sergio Lopez as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, June 24, then rosary will be recited at 7 pm, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.Mr. Castro was born May 2, 1930, in Coolidge, to Ventura and Consuelo Suasa Castro. He was employed by Connally ISD. In his free time he loved sitting under the oak tree in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took great joy in buying them 25 cent sodas. All the students at Connally will miss 'the little old man' that toodled around in his golf cart.Mr. Castro was preceded in death by his parents; son, Anastasio Castro; daughter-in-law, Sue Castro; and grandson, Koby Ortiz.He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Castro of West; sons, Steve Castro of San Marcos, Felix Castro, Jr. of Hillsboro, Oregon, Frank Castro & Kim of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Ernest Castro of West; daughters, Alfonsa Wilson & Ronnie of Woodburn, Oregon, Mary Vasquez & Fernando of Lacy-Lakeview, Julie Zahirniak & Patrick Joseph of Hewitt, Nancy Molina & Billy of Dallas, Brenda King & Mark of Beaverton, Oregon, Tina Kreder & Alvin of West, and Marina Castro of Dallas; 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Castro of Bellmead, Luis Ramirez & Rita of Elm Mott, and Frank Ramirez & Mary of Bellmead; and sisters, Anita Gonzales and Gracie Fraga & Jim, both of Waco, Janie Miramontez of McGregor; and his dog, Cookie.Pallbearers will be Gilbert Martinez, Jr., Justin Castro, Cody Castro, Jeremy Knutson, Aaron Molina and Stuart Castro. Honorary pallbearers will be Connally ISD Maintenance Dept.The family would like to thank both Hillcrest Hospice, and Providence Hospice, Quality Care of Waco and staff, West Post Office, Hillcrest Baptist Hospital, and everyone who visited Felix.
