Eva Bell MurphyFeb. 9, 1920 ~ April 17, 2008 Eva Bell Murphy, 88, of Waco, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at a local nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2008 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Greg Brumit officiating. Burial will follow there at the Park. Visitation with family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 20, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Eva Bell McKinney was born on February 9, 1920 in Pilot Point, Texas to Rettie Mae Wilson McKinney and Brandtson Carroll McKinney. She was married to Vernon Murphy on June 25, 1938 in Crosbyton, Texas. Bell was a member of the Family Y Center for many years and enjoyed wonderful friendships with her pals in the senior water aerobic class. Everyone enjoyed her cooking, which she did for numerous friend and family gatherings over the years. She also enjoyed growing flowers and listening to Country music. Bell was known as "Granny" to all the kids she kept in her Daycare. She was especially good to single Moms of the children as Moms need love and support too! Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 64 years, Vernon Murphy in August of 2002; daughter, Connie L. Nystrom; brothers, Robert, Everett, Fred and Homer McKinney; and sister, Vera Hampton. Left behind to cherish her memory are son, Jerry Murphy and wife, Dallas of Waco; daughters, Peggy Frey and husband Don of Bosqueville and LaVerne Amos of China Spring; brothers, Carroll McKinney of Weatherford and James McKinney; sisters, Frances Miller of Lorenzo and Sherry Hill of Spur; grandchildren, Jimmy L. Murphy, Sharanda Thompson, Tricia Young and Shana Christian; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to Royal Manor Nursing Home, Dr. Charles Stern who was her trusted and caring physician and Providence Hospice for their care.
