Eugene (Gene) ChapmanEugene (Gene) Chapman, 73, of Waco, passed away at a Temple hospital on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Rosemound Cemetery with the Reverends Donald Scott & Wilbert Austin officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tues., Aug. 30, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.Gene was born to O. T. and Blumie Pearl Mays Chapman on July 5, 1932 in Waco. Gene served stateside in the Korean War via the U. S. Army in 1952. He married Jean Carlisle on August 10, 1956. At the age of 13 Gene began working with his Daddy at his fruit stand and took it over when he died on July 12, 1961. His wife and all 4 boys worked in it with him until he passed it to Steven 8 years ago. Gene also acquired many rental properties which he managed over the years. A special bond Gene had with his sons & grandsons was the sport of racing. Whether it was at the H.O.T. Speedway on Friday nights, watching tv, or attending NASCAR, they all enjoyed it together. His grandchildren were the light of his life.Preceding Gene in death were his parents; 5 brothers, J. D., Charlie, Frankie, Will Ed & Patrick; 2 sisters-in-law, & 5 brothers-in-law.Surviving Gene are his wife of 49 plus years, Jean Chapman of Waco; sons, David of Waco, Steven & wife Debi of Waco, Terry & Kerry of Robinson, and Buddie of Waco; grandchildren, Joshua David Chapman, Jeremiah Don Chapman, Krystal Jean Chapman, Brittany Dawn Chapman, Buddie Eugene Chapman, Chase Terrell Chapman, Chesley Jean Chapman, Jessica Lyndsey Chapman, Coty Lee Wilson, and Steven Jefferson Chapman.
