Esther Edna Kunkel, 92, of Kerrville, formerly of Waco and Malone, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013; at the time of her death her spirit returned to her Lord who gave it. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 10, 2013 at Salem Cemetery in Malone with the Reverend Jim Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 9th at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.Mrs. Kunkel was born on October 14, 1920 in Malone, Texas to Gus and Hedwig Schreiber Reinke. On November 25, 1920 she was baptized into Christ; she was confirmed in her Christian faith in April 1934. Mrs. Kunkel was a longtime member of Saint Mark Lutheran Church in Waco. She married Ervin Henry Kunkel in January 1938 and they celebrated 42 wonderful years together until his death in 1980. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.Survivors include her son; Dr. Weldon Kunkel and his wife, Heidi of Waco, daughters; Frances Turner and her husband, Bill of Kerrville and Janet Herschlip and her husband, Virgil of Bellingham, Washington and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
