Funeral services for Elwood "E. L." Cripe, 93, of Waco will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Rev. Jimmy Johnson of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Mr. Cripe passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 in Temple, TX. Elwood Leroy Cripe was born September 6, 1915 in Rossville, Indiana to Frank and Maude (Roth) Cripe. He was owner and operator of the 1 Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners in Waco for over 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #92. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner; past director on the Board of the Texas Laundry and Dry Cleaners Association; and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waco. Mr. Cripe was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth Cripe; and a son, Larry Cripe. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, James and Cissy Cripe of Temple; a brother, Vernon Cripe of Indiana; and daughter in law, Debbie Cripe of Austin; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Shriners International Headquarters 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, Fl 33607. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009 at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors of Waco.
