Elizabeth was raised in Louisville, until the age of 13, at which time, her parents moved the family to North Hollywood, California, finally, settling in Reseda, California. Elizabeth's working career started in Southern California; her first job was King's Donut Shop, other jobs followed; e.g., Taco Bell, Thomas Organ Company, tuning organs; NMB Company, making precision metal parts; and Cavilico, a company that made parts for elevators and airplanes, where she was in charge of the stock material department. She went back to Louisville, KY., for a short time in 1973, and while there worked at the Louisville Bedding Company, where she made quilts. Elizabeth married John Wayne Manuel on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1976 at Alberta's Wedding Chapel in Los Angeles, California. Their honeymoon consisted of a 'Reception' at the local MacDonald's restaurant and the Anheuser Busch Amusement Park, in Los Angeles, California. Elizabeth finally had her honeymoon in August 2009 touring the Mid and North Eastern United States with her husband. After they married, they made their home at 15A Elm Street (base housing), Marine Corps Base, Twenty Nine Palms, California, where their daughter Carol Jean Manuel was born. Elizabeth's husband, John, was in the Marine Corps and the family moved around the United States, finally settling in Waco, Texas in May 1986.
