Earl Ray Buckner, age 95, of Hewitt, was born May 21,1928 in Waxahachie, Texas and passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023 with his loving wife, Peggy by his side.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas & Annie Lee Buckner and 6 brothers & sisters.

He was a 1946 graduate of Sunset High School, in Dallas, Texas. After high school, he played professional baseball in the Texas League. He then started his 44-year career in the transportation industry and retired from Plantation Foods in 1994 after 18 years of service. During retirement, he enjoyed his various outdoor activities, reading and time spent with family, especially those grandchildren.

Earl is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Sue Buckner; sons Ray Buckner of Axtell, Mike Buckner & fiancé Harolyn of Lakeway, Steve Buckner and wife, Shyla of Amarillo; daughter in heart, Susie Buckner; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Allyson, Sydney, Cole & Sloan; great-grandchild, Adrian, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express much love and appreciation to Earl's recent caregivers Dr. Singh, Erin, Tammy, Kimberly & Barbara.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 7671 S. I-35 Robinson, Texas 76706

Services are under the direction of Connally /Compton Funeral Directors.
