Donald Colby TostevinDonald Colby Tostevin, 80, of Lorena went home March 9, 2005. Funeral services will be at 10:00, Friday, March 11 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive visitors Thursday, March 10 from 6-8pm at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.Don was born March 3, 1925 to Martha and Edwin Tostevin in Westfield, New Jersey. He was married to Alberta Anderson July 5, 1947. They had three children. Lee Ann, Daniel and Christine. Alberta died in Colorado in September of 1989. Don was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Franklin and Edwin and grandson Matthew.In WWII, 1942, at the age of seventeen, Don boarded the destroyer USS Dale in Dutch Harbor. After serving in the Navy, Don worked for the telephone company in Cincinnati, Ohio and in Colorado until he retired. He moved to Waco in 1990 and met Betty Van Cleave. They married December 4, 1993. He is survived by his wife Betty Tostevin of Lorena; son, Daniel Tostevin and wife Cora of Erie, Colorado; daughters, Lee Ann Hees of Brentwood, Tenn., Christine Rardin and husband Tom Rardin of Hewitt; two sons and a daughter by marriage, Mike Van Cleave of Lacy Lakeview and Frank Bull and wife Melinda of Waco; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren."I Have a Place in Heaven"Please don't sing sad songs for me, Forget your grief and fears;For I am in a perfect place,Away from pain and tears…I'm far away from hunger,And hurt and want and pride;I have a place in heavenWith the Master at my side.My life on earth was very good,As earthly lives can go;But Paradise is so much moreThan anyone can know…My heart is filled with happiness,And sweet rejoicing, too;To walk with God is perfect peace,A joy forever new.So please don't sing sad songs for me,Forget your grief and tears;For I am in a perfect place,And you can join me here. -by Marinel HendersonGoodbye for now Don, we'll see you in the morning.
