Dennis Thomas Potter

Dennis Thomas Potter, 69, of Waco, Texas, passed away at his home on August 9, 2026.

Dennis Potter was born January 2nd, 1957, to Joseph Potter and Gwendolyn Good-Potter on James Connelly Air Force Base in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Waco High School in the class of 1976. Dennis had a passion for sports, especially baseball and softball at every level. He also loved dogs, classic rock, the Dallas Cowboys, and was known by family and friends for his unwavering appreciation of ketchup, which somehow seemed to belong on just about everything.

In his lifetime, he had been a loving son caring for his parents, a brother to 3 siblings, a husband, and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. His guidance and mentorship left an indelible mark on their lives that can’t be erased. Dennis dedicated 18 years of his life to working for WRS. After leaving to try his luck at SpaceX, he returned to WRS in 2020 and continued working for them until his passing.

Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ada Potter, James and Pauline Good; his parents, Joseph and Gwendolyn Potter; and brother, Mark Potter. 

He is survived by his brother, Paul Potter Sr.; his sister, Cathy Lewis; nephew, Paul Potter Jr.; nieces, Holly McDowell, Michelle Ridlehuber, Jaclynn Skaines, and Bridget Potter;,dear friend and former spouse, Venina Potter; plus additional family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Dennis's faith, dedication to family, and servant's heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. Though he is no longer with us, the example he set through a lifetime of caring for others will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dennis's life at Waco Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. A brief graveside service will immediately follow.
