Obituary

On Monday, January 2, 2017, Delfina Gonzalez Moreno went to be with her Lord. Her 85 years in this world were filled with many beautiful experiences. As was the case with many Central Texas families during the onset of the Great Depression she was born into the farming community of Calvert Texas on December 24th, 1931. She was the third of five children born to Maria and Gustavo Gonzalez. Named after her Paternal grandmother Delfina Aguirre, she and the family worked as farmers in Rosebud until 1940 when the family moved to Waco, Texas. At the age of 21, she married her soulmate, Johnny Richard Moreno, who preceded her in death in 1994. Delfina was also preceded in death by her parents Maria and Gustavo and siblings Antonia and Gus Jr. Delfina is survived by four children, Mary, Delia, Joe and David; daughters-in-law Suzy and Carolyn; grandchildren Joseph, Johnny and his wife Jennifer, Joe Jr. and his wife Maria, Christopher, Michael, Brittany and Andreas, great grandchildren, Maela Isabel, Miranda and Alexander and brothers Joe and Tom and their families.Delfina was an accomplished seamstress and could always be found crocheting, sewing or quilting something intricate and beautiful for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other loved ones, most importantly everything was created with love sewn in each stitch. She was a devoted spouse and together Delfina and Johnny spent many years early in their marriage serving as Patrons to help establish and grow the Catholic community of Sacred Heart Parish in South Waco. She found her greatest enjoyment in caring for her family always putting their needs before her own. She will be remembered most fondly sitting around the dining room table listening to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren talk about their lives or playing spades and dominoes to pass the time. While words cannot express on paper the life she lived, she touched every soul she ever encountered and will forever remain in their hearts.Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
