Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2008 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jerry Price officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 9, at the funeral home. Debra Sue was born on September 8, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa to Kathryn Lou Murray and Hugh Lee Hooper, Sr. She married the love of her life, Fred Lerma, on her birthday in 1974. Since Debbie loved talking with people, her job as Security Guard at Richland Mall brought her great joy. She seemed to have enough love in her heart for everyone and loved playing games or just spending time with her grandchildren. As a born again Christian, Debbie was quite the prayer warrior. She will be extremely missed as she was greatly loved by her family and friends. Preceding Debbie in death were her father; and brother, Mike Hooper. Those left behind to cherish her memory are husband of 33 years, Fred Lerma of Waco; son, Fred William Lee Lerma and wife, Kaci of Hewitt; daughter, Jessica Marie Lerma of Waco; granddaughter, Madison Adoline Lerma; grandson, Roman Lerma; and mother, Kathryn Hooper; brothers, Hugh Lee Hooper, Jr., James Thomas Hooper, and David Wayne Hooper, all of Waco; sister, Lavon Dorris of Washington state; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
