David Lee Mellema passed peacefully away on February 12, 2018. He was born on July 18, 1960 in Shelton, WA.

David is survived by his wife, Karen Olsen Mellema; his parents, Lawrence C. and Jeanette Mellema and Earlene Nelson; and his siblings, Michael Mellema, Debra Mellema Johnson and Cal Frazier, Sari Mellema, Joanna Hoyt, Esther Anderson, Timothy Mellema, Elizabeth Poeschel, Stephen Mellema, Lois Mochizuki, LeeAnne Kluck, Sharon Nelson, Jonathan Nelson, Rachel Nelson, Gideon Nelson, Lee Nelson, Jr., Mark Nelson, and David Nelson. He had no biological children, but is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory forever, as well as cousins by the dozens.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Frances Mellema and Earl and Leone Smith; his step-father, Lee Nelson, Sr.; and his beloved Lori, Robert, and Cinammon.

David was an enthusiastic, kind, and generous man. He had a passion for music and was deeply spiritual. His happy-go-lucky nature brought joy to all those around him. His kind soul and loving heart meant he was always willing to lend a hand or give the last of anything he had to help another. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his family, especially in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, whom he adored. David loved well and was truly well loved. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and dear friends.
