Danny LaffertyJune 14, 1950 ~ May 20, 2007 Danny Lafferty, 56, formerly of Waco, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007 in California. Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Danny was born in Brownwood, Texas on June 14, 1950 to Robert Lee and Ernestine Bessire Lafferty. Danny moved to Waco as a young child and attended Waco schools, graduating from Richfield High School in 1968. After graduation Danny attended Texas A & M University for a year before volunteering for military service where he served a tour of duty in the Army. After discharge from the Army, Danny attended Tarrant County Junior College for a time before re-locating to California. Danny fell in love with California after being stationed there during the military. He lived and worked in both Morro Bay and Cambria, California first as a commercial fisherman and then as a heating contractor. Over twenty five years ago he started his own business, D. Lafferty Heating, in Cambria which he owned and operated until his death. Danny loved the ocean and enjoyed fishing, kayaking, sailing and all water sports. He was an outdoor enthusiast and one of his favorite pastimes was mountain biking, which he enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings of Cambria and the Pacific Ocean. Danny also was an avid skydiver, a sport he participated in throughout his lifetime. Danny was a Renaissance man in every respect; he loved to read and quote Shakespeare and was a master in his trade as well as with his mind. He was brilliantly funny and extremely bright and well-read. Danny was a prolific poet, writing hundreds of poems throughout his lifetime. He also enjoyed yearly trips to Paris and spoke fluent French. Danny made friends easily and kept them for life. He was loved by his family and friends both in Texas and California and he is irreplaceable. While Danny's life was too short it was quality. Preceding Danny in death were his father; and brother, Henry Alan Lafferty. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Ernestine Lafferty of Waco; brothers, Robert Lafferty of Spicewood, TX, Larry Lafferty and wife, Beverly of Waco, Barry Lafferty and wife, Eva of Waco; and sister, Merrilee Harmon Dunnam and husband, Vance Dunnam of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews.
