Dan was born in Memphis, TN, March 28, 1942. After graduation from Central High School in Cape Girardeau, MO, his family moved to Dallas. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX. Then graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX. Following dental school, Dan served three years in Darmstadt, Germany with the US Army dental corp. Upon returning home after serving in Germany, Dan graduated from The University of Texas, Health Science Center of Houston, Dental Branch for his orthodontic degree.
Dan was an orthodontist in Mesquite, TX for 31 years, retiring in April 2006.
He loved his family and his church family and will be missed, but we know in our hearts that he is with the Lord Jesus Christ and free from having Multiple Myeloma for 11 years.
In an article called The Senior Spotlight in his high school newspaper, a story of Dan's life in Cape Girardeau began with a quote from Dan. "To get the most out of life, put your best into it.", is the philosophy of one of our senior boys in the spotlight, Dan Gestring.
Dan's joy of life and heart-warming smile will be missed by his family and friends.
