Obituary

Curtis Dwayne Pogue, 65, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Curtis was born on November 19, 1960, in Hammond, Indiana, to Robert Pogue and Glenda Johnson. He graduated from Highland High School in 1978 and spent most of his life making Texas his home.

Curtis was a hardworking man who spent many years working as a mechanic in Central Texas. His passion and talent for working with his hands eventually led him to own his own mechanic shop. There was very little Curtis couldn’t figure out how to build, repair, or make better.

Curtis had a lifelong love of cars and trucks. He especially enjoyed building and customizing vehicles. He loved attending car shows and took great pride in showing off his beautiful trucks and competing for trophies. His collection of trophies was a reflection of his talent, dedication, and pride in everything he built.

Curtis also loved the outdoors, collecting guns and knives, and spending time doing the things he enjoyed with the people he loved. One of his favorite traditions was his weekly Wednesday date with his wife, Sherry and spending every Friday night with his brother Ken.Those special days together were cherished and became a beautiful part of their life together.

Curtis was a devoted member of Faith Temple Baptist Church in Lorena, Texas. His faith and his church family held a special place in his heart. He loved being involved in church and spending time with his church family.

Above all else, Curtis loved his family. He loved his wife, children, bonus children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart. His family will remember him as a hardworking, talented, loving man whose greatest treasures were not the cars he built or the trophies he won, but the people he loved.

Curtis was preceded in death by his birth father, Robert Pogue.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Sexton Pogue; his mother, Glenda, and his dad ,Ralph; his children, Curtis Jr. and spouse Lauren , Robert and his spouse Jaymie, and Trevor and his spouse Erica; and his bonus children, Aaron and his spouse Heather, Rebecca and her spouse Larsen , David and spouse Emily, Lewis and his spouse Breanna, Justin and his spouse Jackie, Rachel and her spouse Matthew, and Ashley.

Curtis leaves behind 23 grandchildren and two great-grandsons, who brought tremendous love and joy into his life.

He is also survived by his siblings, Teresa and Spouse Jim,Brenda, Kenneth, Michelle, and Lori, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Curtis leaves behind a lifetime of memories—from the vehicles he lovingly built and the trophies he proudly earned, to his Wednesday dates with Sherry, time spent outdoors, church, family gatherings, and countless moments shared with the people he loved.

Though his family will deeply miss his presence, his love, laughter, hard work, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
