Mrs. Consuelo Romero Cantu, age 95, was surrounded by her family when she went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral service will be Friday. August 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors.She is preceded in death by her husband, Saragoza Cantu and daughter, Carman Barboza. Consuelo is survived by her children, Mary Helen Gonzales, Christine Munoz, Patrick Cantu, Mary Louise De Luna and James Cantu; 45 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who loved spending time with her and showering her with hugs and kisses. Walking each generation through old family photos was a treasured event she shared. She was such a giving soul and had many friends and neighbors all around Waco and Texas that cherished her. Consuelo loved the Lord and was her family's strong and constant prayer warrior. It was a beautiful thing to hear her sing praise hymns and to hear her read from her bible. Consuelo always loved looking at, smelling and admiring God's creation of flowers and plants. She could spend hours walking around a nursery studying each bloom and its colors and textures and telling you how to care for them. Her family and friends remember she was always ready to share her time, her home, her cooking and love with everyone. She truly lit up any room with her humble, quiet, yet playful spirit that we all adored and enjoyed. She w1ll be deeply, deeply missed. Consuelo was also a strong and intelligent woman with unending endurance and patience. She is in heaven with her Lord and Savior so we praise the name of Jesus and are thankful He gave us the most amazing mother, grandmother and friend.
