Cleofas Gonzales Garcia, 96, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, on Sep. 27, 2006. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Funeral service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sep. 30, at Primera Iglesia Bautista on 515 N. 4th St. with Pastor Armando Virgen officiating, laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sep.29, at the funeral home.She was a blessing to everyone that knew her and provided an example of love, kindness and generosity to all of us. Mama was the happiest being with her family. Her laughter would ring out above everyone else's at family gatherings. She was born in Minera, Texas on April 9, 1910; the first born child of Edwardo and Cresencia Gonzales. She was raised by her grandmother until the age of 16 when she came to Freestone County to live with her parents. On November 27, 1927 she married her husband, Jose Maria Garcia, Sr., in Evansville, Texas. At the time of his death on January 3, 1984, they had been married 56 years. She will be greatly missed.She is preceded in death by her parentes, Edwardo and Cresencia Gonzales. She had also mourned the death of her husband, Jose Maria Garcia, Sr., her daughter Mary Garcia and her son Jose Maria Garcia, Jr. Four sisters, Cliotilde Marentez, Elena Flores, Paula Ordonez and Amelia Rioncones. Two brothers, Edward Gonzales and Henry Gonzales. Three grandchildren, Angelica Garcia, Lisa Barnhart Conley and Danny Perez.Mama's surviving family includes four sons and their wives: Frank Garcia/ Eva of Mesquite, Nevada, Louis Garcia/ Pilar of Waco, Felipe Garcia/ Sara of Dallas, and Manuel Garcia/ Juanie of Plainview. Four daughters and their husbands, Jay/ Cliff Rouff of Lake Striker, Jymmye/ Jackson Tabor of Houston, Juanita/ Bernardo Barnhart of LaBelle, Florida and Cody/ Victor Perez of Brownsville. Three adopted granddaughters, Debby Lope of Waco, Donna Moreno of Waco, and Jo Moreno of Round Rock. One brother, Louis Gonzales of Colorado City, two sisters, Josie Yruguez of Loraine and Saggie Rivera of Colorado City and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind to morn her death, 48 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren. Following the interment all are invited to join the family for lunch at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 510 N. 4th Street.
